Police have confirmed that they responded to reports of trouble outside licensed premises in the town's Square on Saturday afternoon.
Officers liaised with the Royal Black Preceptory who decided to change part of their route to avoid the area and assist in calming the situation.
A spokesperson said appropriate resources were deployed in the area to monitor the situation and the area returned to calm.
Thanking everyone involved in the event, Area Commander Chief Inspector Ken Mawhinney said it was unfortunate the incident happened during what was otherwise an enjoyable family day out.
He also acknowledged the Royal Black Preceptory for their prompt proactive response to this unwanted intrusion into an otherwise successful day.
During the incident one male was arrested and is expected to appear at Banbridge Magistrate's Court, sitting in Newry, on September 18th, charged with disorderly behaviour.
